The Asi Keyi Natural Environment Park management planning steering committee is currently in Stage 4 of the management planning process. In April and May of 2016 the Steering Committee sought feedback on its proposed park vision and guiding principles and inquired as to people’s management concerns for the park. The feedback obtained was used by the Steering Committee to finalize the park vision and guiding principles which were released publicly in News Letter No. 3 in October of 2016.
Since then the Steering Committee has been working to identify all of the management issues for the park, develop management goals and management actions to help reach these goals. This work was done using feedback and input from the communities, knowledge holders, Elders, interested citizens, environmental organizations, Kluane First Nation, White River First Nation, Yukon Government, and stakeholders.
The Steering Committee is presenting its proposal in the accompanying document entitled Community and Public Engagement Background Package on: Management Issues, Proposed Goals and Possible Management Approaches. The Steering Committee is looking for your feedback on the proposal in general as well as a few key issues. Your feedback will be used to help the Steering Committee make informed decisions and develop the draft management plan for Asi Keyi Natural Environment Park.
